Please note that your date isn't booked until you return both your deposit payment and your ceremony contract. I will hold your ceremony date in and time good faith for five business days. If I don't receive your deposit payment and signed ceremony contract within five business days, your date will be open to other bookings (unless you've made arrangements with me to pay at a later date).
Your Deposit Payment
Your deposit payment is payable via Cash App, PayPal or Venmo. I will reach out to you personally to determine how you wish to pay. Your deposit is nonrefundable, including under these circumstances:
- You cancel the ceremony.
- A change in location creates a scheduling conflict with another ceremony, due to increased travel time.
- You reschedule to a time when I'm unavailable.
- You choose a friend or family member to officiate. (Please don't!)
- You choose a different officiant for any reason (including pricing).
Your Balance Payment
Your balance payment is only payable in cash, and is due the day of the ceremony before it begins.
Our Ceremony Contract
You'll receive an email from me with a link to e-sign our contract. This must be done within five business days. If you change the location of the ceremony, or the date or time stated in your ceremony contract, I cannot guarantee that I will be available, which may void the agreement altogether. Please be absolutely certain of your exact start time before signing the ceremony contract. If you have only have a tentative ceremony start time established with your other vendors (including but not limited to your photographer/videographer, DJ/live musicians, wedding planner, and especially your venue) you must determine an exact start time for your ceremony before committing to this agreement! Please refer to the contract for specific details.
Rehearsal Contract & Payments
If you are planning a rehearsal for your ceremony, it is not covered under our ceremony contract. Rehearsals must be booked separately using the rehearsal booking form and are covered under a separate contract. You must fill out this form and return the rehearsal contract to get your rehearsal scheduled! Rehearsals are booked on a first come, first serve basis, and while I'm always the person who will perform your ceremony, I may need to send another trained wedding professional to help you rehearse. Here's a list of handy rehearsal scheduling tips.
Ceremony Questionnaire
Don't forget to fill out Questionnaire 5.0 or its genderless counterpart, which does away with all gender references. This must be completed within 30 days of your ceremony date. If your ceremony is already less than 30 days away, please fill it out immediately! Don't forget to save your progress at the bottom of each section, in case you want to take a break - your answers will be there when you return.
Microphones
Do I even need microphone? Maybe! The most important thing to remember is that I only use lavalier or over-the-ear microphones, not handheld microphones or microphone stands. This is even one of the terms of our contract. Many times, they're not even necessary. I wrote a guide help you determine if anyone who's speaking during the ceremony really need them. Check it out.
Procuring, Signing, and Returning Your Marriage License
Here's the quick guide: call your local probate court, go there and get your marriage license, bring it with you to your ceremony, then I'll sign and return it to the court. There are far more detailed instructions (and some important notes on residency restrictions) on my marriage license page.
Miscellaneous
- I'll let you know when to expect me at your ceremony. I usually arrive between 30-60 minutes before your ceremony begins, depending whether we've rehearsed or not. We might do some ceremony prep on the phone or in person earlier that week, if I'm anticipating an arrival time less than 30 minutes from your start time.
- I can only wear a boutonnière that has no wax-coated floral tape, no pins (magnets only), and no flowers (I have terrible allergies, so fake ones are okay.) Unless they meet all of those criteria, don't order one for me. I look quite spruce without one, anyway.
- While I love sticking around for rehearsal dinners and receptions when I can, I can't make those commitments because I need to keep that time open for other ceremonies and rehearsals, some of which are last minute bookings. If you have a no-show (which means an open seat and a plate of food) and I have the time, I'll try to stick around.
